In Loving Memory of Ruth Pridemore

The community of Plymouth, Huron County, Ohio, is mourning the tragic loss of Ruth Pridemore, 81, of Willard, who died in a devastating four-vehicle crash on State Route 61 on March 9. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and the wider community reeling, as they try to come to terms with the loss of a beloved family member in such a tragic and unexpected manner.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:28 p.m. near milepost one in the Village of Plymouth. At the time, roadwork was being conducted on the east side of the highway, requiring a flagger to control traffic. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2017 Ram 1500 pickup truck, operated by Michael Sexton, 55, of Shiloh, was stopped in the northbound lane due to the roadwork. Behind him was a 2025 Toyota RAV4, driven by Gurpreet Singh, 35, of Perrysburg, also stopped. As a 2024 Hyundai Tucson, operated by Ruth Pridemore, approached the two stopped vehicles, it began slowing down, but was struck from behind by a 2018 Ford F150, driven by Brian Mock, 50, of Crestline. The impact caused a chain reaction: the Tucson struck the Toyota RAV4, which then struck the Ram 1500.

Ruth Pridemore suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Michael Sexton, Gurpreet Singh, and Brian Mock sustained minor injuries but did not require transportation for medical care.

The response to the scene was swift, with assistance from the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Huron County Coroner’s Office, as well as local services including Secor Funeral Home, Wilcox Garage, and Clark Brother’s Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.

Ruth Pridemore’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. At 81 years old, she had lived a full life filled with family, friends, and community connections. Those who knew her remember her as a cherished mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor—someone who brought warmth, kindness, and care into the lives of everyone she touched.
